SMC PROTOCOL FOR DISTRIBUTED K- ANONYMITY

    Get PDF
Secure multiparty protocols have been proposed to enable non colluding parties to cooperate without a trusted server. Even though such protocols put off information exposé other than the objective function, they are quite costly in computation and communication. The high overhead motivates parties to estimate the utility that can be achieved as a result of the protocol beforehand. To avoid this issue we propose a look-ahead approach, specifically for secure multiparty protocols to achieve distributed k-anonymity, which helps parties to decide if the utility benefit from the protocol is within an acceptable range before initiating the protocol. The look-aheadoperation is highly localized and its accuracy depends on the amount of information the parties are willing toshare. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods

Background: Infertility affects about 10-15% of reproductive age couple and is increasing globally. None of the laboratory findings alone are conclusive in diagnosing infertility. The ability to visualize and simultaneously treat the identified pathology makes hysterolaparoscopy an essential part of infertility management. Aim of the study was to evaluate hysterolaparoscopy as a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic tool in female infertility management. Objective of the study was to evaluate various etiological factors in infertility and the therapeutic interventions done during hysterolaparoscopy. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 250 cases over one year from October 2021 to September 2022 at a teritiary care hospital. Women with primary or secondary infertility aged between 20-40 years were included. Patients with contraindications for general anaesthesia and active pelvic infection were excluded. Results: Out of 250 patients, 195(78%) had primary infertility and 55(22%) had secondary infertility. In primary infertility group 69% and in secondary infertility group 87.7% had abnormal laparoscopy findings. The most common laparoscopic abnormality is tubal factor both in primary infertility (58%) and secondary infertility (58%) group and on hysteroscopy, endometritis is the commonest abnormality in both. Conclusions: In experienced hands, hysterolaparoscopy is a very safe operation. The abnormalities of pelvic and uterus can be diagnosed and also resolved in hysterolaparoscopy at the same time. Also, the future plan of management can be taken in time after the evaluation

An analytical review on method development and validation of drugs used for alzheimers disease

    Get PDF
Alzheimers disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive memory defeat and impairment in behavior, language, and visuospatial skills. Current approved drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer disease (AD) include cholinesterase inhibitors (donepezil, galantamine and rivastigmine,) and the NMDA receptor antagonist memantine. These drugs can provide a symptomatic relief but they poorly affect the progression of the disease. There are several risk factors for the development of Alzheimers disease which include factors like age, genetic factor family history, Downs syndrome, head injury and cardiovascular diseases. Cardio vascular risk factors may include blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and smoking. People may experience cognitive mental illness, difficulty in understanding and thinking, forgetting things easily, making things complicated, mental confusion, difficulty in concentrating, inability to create old memories, inability to do simple things, or inability to recognize common things. The main objective of this review is discussion on various analytical methods used, different solvents used as mobile phase and their retention time. This review includes method development and validation of cholinesterase inhibitors like Donepezil, Galantamine, Rivastigmine and Tacrine combination of drugs which include cholinesterase inhibitors like Donepezil and NMDA receptor antagonist Memantine. The review is a collection of data including various analytical methods used, the different columns used, mobile phase used, flow rate, different detectors and detection wavelength and retention time. This review includes discussion on method development and validation of Alzheimers drugs and newly developed compounds which have lesser side effects and are proving more efficient for treatment of Alzheimers disease

A REVIEW ON PHARMACO KINETIC DRUG INTERACTIONS OF STATINS

    Get PDF
The 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors (statins) are generally well tolerated as monotherapy. Statins are associated with two important adverse effects, asymptomatic elevation in liver enzymes and myopathy. Myopathy is most likely to occur when statins are administered with other drugs. Statins are substrates of multiple drug transporters (including OAT- -P1B1, BCRP and MDR1) and several cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes (including CYP3A4, CYP2C8, CYP2C19, and CYP2C9). Possible adverse effects of statins can occur due to interactions in concomitant use of drugs that substantially inhibit or induce their methabolic pathway. This review aim is to summarize the most important interactions of statins

Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a significant clinical disorder affecting a substantial percentage of women. This study aims to investigate the existence, knowledge, and attitude of female students towards PMS. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted, with 250 female participants between the ages of 18 to 30 years. The participants completed a self-reporting menstrual distress questionnaire (MDQ) and a standardized health questionnaire to assess the prevalence and severity of premenstrual symptoms and also to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of PMS for subjective perceptions of health, stress, lifestyle, and demographic variables. The questionnaire was set in four parts, one each to assess the knowledge, the attitude, and practices regarding PMS and one to assess the gap between self-perceived PMS and actual PMS. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: The results revealed that 80% of the participants reported experiencing PMS, but only 48% met the criteria defined by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). The most common symptoms reported were irritability, mood swings, headache, fatigue, and menstrual cramps. PMS had a significant impact on participants’ normal life, with 60.4% reporting disturbances in their routine. While 51.2% believed that PMS/menstrual leave should be an option at universities, only 39.2% supported the idea at the workplace. Conclusions: Surprisingly, over 60% of participants did nothing to relieve their PMS symptoms. So, there is a significant impact of PMS in the lives of urban women and it is also a common problem all over the globe. The study underscores the need for increased awareness and education about PMS and its management, as well as the importance of promoting a stress-free environment to mitigate its impact on women’s quality of life

ABSTRACT Due to climate change, there was significant impact on agriculture and allied areas and led to biotic and abiotic stresses. The study focused on the analyzing the awareness of the dryland farmers on the climate change and also the extent of adoption of adaptation and mitigation measures for climate change. Study was conducted in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh with 120 dryland farmers by following appropriate sampling procedure. Structured schedules were prepared for both awareness and adoption of measures for climate change. There was 84.47 percent of awareness on climate related changes followed by 74.27 percent on crop related changes, 73.61 percent on animal husbandry related changes and 61.11 percent on soil& water related changes. The item wise analysis indicates that delayed onset of monsoon, rainfall, temperature, availability of ground water, pests & diseases, drought conditions were the major areas in which farmers were well aware. Increased crop weed competition, reduced quality of produce, Increase in disease transmission, Decreased fertilizer use efficiency were the areas where farmers were not well aware. Intercropping was ranked first in extent of adoption followed by alteration in sowing/ planting dates, micro irrigation systems, use of drought tolerant varieties and use of pest and disease resistant varieties, etc. Very meager percent adoption was observed for crop rotation, high yielding and drought resistant forage crops/varieties, integrated weed management practices, use of suitable breeds/varieties. Strategy consisting of ten broad areas was designed for achieving climate resilient agriculture in dry land areas

    ALKAPTONURIA SYNDROME-A REVIEW

    Get PDF
Alkaptonuria, also called endogenous ochronosis, and also called as Black Urine Disease, is a rare metabolic autosomal recessive disorder. It occurs by complete inhibition of homogentisic acid oxidase enzyme having its deposition in various tissues. Alkaptonuria is caused due to deficiency of homogentisic acid oxidase involved in the metabolism of tyrosine. Dark discolouration of urine, ochronosis at cartilage and connective tissues, arthritis at the third of fourth decade of life, renal stone disease, spontaneous tendon rupture etc. May be seen in alkaptonuria. Disease severity varies among individual patients, even between siblings, and increase with age because of homogentisic acid accumulation. Usually, life span is not shortened in AKU, but the quality of life is severely effected. Several studies have suggested that Nitisinone may be effective in the treatment of alkaptonuria. Characteristically, the excess HGA means sufferers pass dark urine, which upon standing turns black. This is a feature present from birth. Over time patients develop other manifestations of AKU, due to the deposition of HGA in collagenous tissues, namely ochronosis and ochronotic osteoarthropathy. Although this condition does not reduce life expectancy, it significantly affects the quality of life. The natural history of this condition is becoming better understood, despite gaps in knowledge. Clinical assessment of the condition has also improved along with the development of potentially disease-modifying therapy. Furthermore, recent developments in AKU research have to lead to new understanding of the disease, and further study of the AKU arthropathy has the potential to influence therapy in the management of osteoarthritis
